Creativity block

Happy Wednesday

As the title suggests on this post it appears I am suffering from a bit of creativity block.  I am mid reorganization of my crafting area so that may have something to do with because I am definitely not lacking on projects I need to complete.  I finally ordered myself a nice desk to create on but am patiently awaiting it's arrival.  So my supplies and dining table(previously know as craft table) are currently at two different ends of my apartment. I think I was a little too excited about the new desk and prematurely moved things to their new homes.  I should have waited for the new desk to arrive first.

Anyhow the project deadlines are not waiting for me so I will suffice.  Mother's Day card, retirement card and Dad's scrapbook are on my horizon.   I have many new shiny toys to play with so I can't wait to utilize them for these projects.   I so far have 3 of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix dies. Whooppeee :)  SO happy.  All three will be used in these 3 projects I have to do.   I have a ton of the new Bo Bonny papers which also, are incorporating themselves into these 3 projects. The weekend is near so the goal will be to complete the two cards first.  I will share pictures once they are done.  Sneak tidbit .. the retirement card has a motorcycle theme and the Mother's Day card will have a flower theme.  Hence the use of the Tim Holtz tattered flowers die .. Did I say whooppeee???

On a side note I purchased these mini carnations and wow, do they ever smell amazing.  I am baffled as to how one color has an amazing aroma and another color has no smell at all???  The fuschia one's with the pale pink edges are the best by far.

So I am off for another two days at work and in the meantime and finding wonderfully creative projects online that are giving me great idea's.  The web is an inspiring and amazing place.  I'm so lucky to be able to be a part of it.

Happy Easter everyone

Well March sure flew by I have to say.  One minute it was here and the next it was gone.  I've been shopping for new spring scrapbooking products now it's time to get to the creative part.  I finally have jumped into the Nestabilities world and splurged on some really great dies.  See "Aunties birthday card" to the right.  I have admired these scallopy shapes for some time on other great cards I have viewed on various blogs.  I just love that you can get that perfect scallop with just one run through on my Cuttlebug.  That's another thing I love about them is that they can be used on different machines.  I am just hoping that the new Tim Holtz Sizzix will work on my machine.  I will soon find out as they are due to be into my local scrapbooking store this week .. Yay!  Another excuse to go shopping.

The highlight of my week was attending a Allison Orthner Photo class on Wednesday evening.   Everything that I learned was new to me so I got a lot out of her class.  I can now say that I have the tools I need to take a great photo.  My favorite picture from the class was this flower.  From the rule of thirds to the blue speedo it was a blast.  Blue speedo??? Yes, we learned how to watch out for blue speedos in our pictures.  You know that wonderful older gentlemen who is still holding onto his youthful days when he could wear a blue speedo and look good in it.  Ya well nowadays, not so much in some cases.  So we were taught to watch out for these people in our backgrounds while we're taking a picture of someone.  The blue speedo could mean many things by the way .. A large pole, garbage can (unless a garbage can is your picture??), or possibly a large flying object (UFO??) ha ha.  If you get a chance to take her class I highly recommend it.  www.AllisonOrthner.com.

Well off I go for a extra long weekend.  4 days off of work yahoo .. so much time to make cards!!!!  God bless and enjoy your weekend.  Off to the bobunny blog hop I go :)

Scrap Happy

To say the scrapping weekend was fun was a understatement.  It was great to get together with the gals and have a very creatively super weekend.  I managed to create about 30 new cards from scratch.  The food was superb, the company was exceptional and having the ability to just scrap for 3 days was phenomenal.  I can't wait to go back again.  This time though I'll stay away from the muddy beach.  I got stuck in the mud and lost both my runners in it .. after a little bit of panic set in I managed to find my way back to the dry land.  Phewf!!!  Let's just say that those runners ended up in the garbage.  If only I had my camera .. now that would have been a Kodak moment :)  Good thing no one saw it .. or at least I don't think anyone saw it..LOL.  Watch, I'll see myself on you tube one of these days .. "Strange woman loses shoes and almost herself on muddy beach".  :)  I sit here laughing thinking about it .. it was quite funny.  Lord knows we have to laugh at ourselves once in a while.  Those who don't, take themselves way too seriously.   I still have to take a few more pictures of the weekend but here are a few to start.

Getting ready and prepped for a scrapping good time

After the mad rush of Christmas and after making many many cards I kind of lost my inspiration to create for the past couple of months.  Thanks to a request from a friend I found my inspiration again.  Her request:  A card for her brother's wedding which is happening in Vegas and the wedding them is red/black/zebra.  FUN!!!!!  So I found the zebra paper and off I went from there.  That is what get's me inspired .. a piece of paper and a idea.  How lucky am I?  This afternoon I watched Tim Holtz sell his heart out at QVC-UK ..my first experience at seeing him live.  It was great to see him in action.  Seeing him use all the products gave me some great idea's for my scrap weekend coming up.  I CAN'T WAIT!  3 days of uninterrupted scrapping and visiting with friends/family.  Did I mention that we get fed too and the food is soo good.  I can scrap 24 hours a day if I want to but that's not what it's all about .. I mean I do need to sleep too I guess :)  So as I prep for that I am reminded just how difficult it is to bring everything with me.  I mean what if I need that little thing at some point or that other thing at some point.  Where do you draw the line at what to bring and what not to bring.  So my thoughts revert to .. what do I bring that will inspire me?  Well as I said previously it sometimes just takes a piece of paper and an idea.  So my focus is on the paper as my main thing to bring.  Sure I could bring every sticker/punch/stamp that I own but would I end up using them all? ... No, so sometimes you just have to make do with what you have.  Dig a little deeper into that inspirational space inside of you and see how far that one piece of paper can take you.  So as I start to pack this week my goal is to eliminate half of what I was going to bring as I go.  Good luck to me :)  Each time I say to myself .. "Ya but" I am going to say to myself again "do I really need that to achieve my goal?"  My goal .. to have some me time, some friend time, some family time and some creative time.  That's all I ask of myself.

My first blog

So here begins the journey into a new frontier for me. I have to say that I am quite the newbie when it comes to this blogging world. I've read them, viewed them and admired them but never thought that maybe one day I should have my own until now. As an admirer of various papercraft guru's (Tim Holtz being one of my fave) I felt that my induction into this "paperworld", as I call it, would be best started here. I can share my thoughts, idea's and all of my creative masterpieces with everyone who finds me. When I say masterpieces I say that in the most humblest of ways :) If it weren't for all these inspiring people whom I have had the pleasure to learn from I wouldn't be where I am today. My goal is to be one of those inspiring people and to take full advantage of the wonderful gift of creativity that I was given. So hold onto your ribbons and eyelets because this gal is ready to take flight and wow, I am so looking forward to the endless skies ahead of me.
